Yoga & Meditation

Harmonising body, mind, and spirit through the ancient sciences of Yoga and Dhyana.

योगः चित्तवृत्तिनिरोधः
समत्वं योग उच्यते
"Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind." — Patanjali
"Equanimity of mind is called Yoga." — Bhagavad Gita

Asana Practice

Daily postures (asanas) improve flexibility, strength, and balance. Children learn Surya Namaskar, standing poses, and gentle stretches adapted for young bodies.

Pranayama

Breathing techniques like Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari, and Kapalabhati help regulate energy, increase focus, and calm the nervous system.

Meditation (Dhyana)

Guided meditation, mantra chanting, and silent sitting develop inner peace, concentration, and self-awareness from an early age.

Yogic Philosophy

Stories from the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita impart values like discipline, non-violence, truthfulness, and contentment.

Yoga in the Gurukul

In Maharshi Ved Vyas Pathshala, Yoga is not just a physical exercise — it is a way of life. Every morning begins with Surya Namaskar and asanas, followed by pranayama and meditation. These practices are woven into the daily routine, helping children build a strong, flexible body and a calm, focused mind.

  • Improves concentration and memory
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Builds physical strength and stamina

The Art of Meditation

Meditation is at the heart of the Gurukul experience. Through regular practice, children learn to turn inward, observe their thoughts, and experience a deep sense of stillness. Techniques include:

  • Mantra Japa (repetition of sacred syllables)
  • Trataka (candle‑gazing meditation)
  • Yog Nidra (yogic sleep for deep relaxation)
  • Guided visualisations
ॐ सह नाववतु। सह नौ भुनक्तु।
सह वीर्यं करवावहै। तेजस्विनावधीतमस्तु मा विद्विषावहै॥
"Om, may we be protected together. May we enjoy together. May we work together. May our study be brilliant. May we never have conflict."
